Dear Zoe,
Sorry for the tardy posting -- I have excuses, but I won't bore you with them. This has been a big month for you. You've had your second Christmas, seen a second set of grandparents fly home, rang in another new year, and went camping for the first time. And, all with a giggle (well, except for the family flying home, I think you were sad at that). But, daddy's staying home with you while I am working full time, and you couldn't be happier. You haven't been on a surf board yet, but there is time, child, there is still time.

Camping on Rottnest Island was a blast though, and you were a star. You loved playing in the dirt at the campground, and you loved loved loved the beach. You just wanted to sit at the edge of the ocean and wait for wave after wave to pummel you. Getting a mouthful of salt water didn't deter you, surprisingly. Sand castles were another favourite. Burying mom's feet is always fun too. And, we were so happy when you actually fell asleep in the portacot in the tent at bedtime and slept through till morn. Ok, so the first night I had to sit by you, rub your back and sing (slightly embarassing when the campground is the size of an indoor tennis court and I have the voice of a half dead crow) for 40 minutes, but the second night you were a dream!! So, we were so inspired by your excellent-ness that we went out and bought a whole bunch of camping stuff!
I've mentioned before that we think you're hilarious and do the funniest things (even when we DON'T give you vodka) but I also think that everyone can learn some valuable life lessons from you....
Life Lessons from my 17 Month Old:
* laugh at every joke
* dance when you hear music
* give lots of kisses and hugs
* sleep lots
* splash in the bath
* only eat foods you like
* drink lots of water
* if someone bugs you, throw your stuffed animal at them
I really think we'd all be better people if we follow that advice.
Love you Zoe, hug hug kiss kiss
